YAB Lim Guan Eng, Chief Minister of Penang has consented to flag off YB Teh Yee Cheu and his team of cyclists namely Errol, Sam Yeoh and Tan Chai Khim.

YB Teh and his team will be joined by members of Kelab Pemilik Basikal KIasik Pulau Pinang / Penang Classic Bicycle Club.

They will also be accompanied by Penang 4X4 Adventure Club from Penang through Thailand to border of Laos.

Tentative Route in Malaysia:
• From St. John Ambulance in Jalan Groove to ferry terminal
• Butterworth Ferry Terminal via old Federal roads to Thai borders

The Penang FPA or as proposed to be known as Family Health Development Association Pulau Pinang is a not for-profit organisation with charity status formed in 1961.

Earth Hour 2008 in Penang

ONE LAST CALL

On March 31 2007, for one hour, Sydney made a powerful statement about the greatest contributor to global warming – coal-fired electricity – by turning off its lights. Over 2.2 million Sydney residents and over 2,100 businesses switched off, leading to a 10.2% energy reduction across the city. What began as one city taking a stand against global warming caught the attention of the world.

On this March 29 2008, 24 global cities will participate in Earth Hour 2008 from 8pm to 9pm. Earth Hour is the highlight of a major campaign to encourage businesses, communities and individuals and organizations to take the simple steps needed to cut their emissions on an ongoing basis. It is about simple changes that will collectively make a difference.

Therefore, the Youth Advisory Centre of Penang Family Planning Association invites you to join us to make a stand to help reduce GLOBAL WARMING as we realised the need for action on this environment problem. So please switch off your electricity from 8pm-9pm on 29th March 2008, which is tomorrow! Its simple!! By doing that, you are actually making a great impact on reducing global warming. Enjoy the stars on that night, go for a night walk or plan something cool with your friends. Have a candlelight dinner with your loved ones perhaps? Join us in this cause for a better environment and better tomorrow. We hope that at least 5% of electricity in our beloved Penang could be switched off. We also hope that Penang government can show their support in this campaign. Imagine if your hometown in darkness for one hour. Haha! Remember, you can make a change!!

Penang,Malaysia-Xiamen,China by two cyclists

Our association is one of five NGO beneficiaries in the above project.The lead cyclist is the Honourable Mr Teh Yee Cheu,an elected member of Penang state assembly.The expedition is planned to flag off from Penang on 19 may 2008 and will traverse Thailand,Cambodia,Laos,Vietnam before entering China.This even is the first of its kind in Malaysia.An accompanying support 4-WD vehicle may be arranged by st. John's Ambulance Malaysia(Penang).

Teh Yee Cheu, born in 1958 in Kedah, Malaysia,completed his secondary education at Chung Ling High School in Penang. He graduated from the Ocean University,Taiwan majoring in Shipping & Transportation Management. He loves mother nature and hopes to preserve 'Green Georgetown' for Penangites.He hopes to promote cycling in Penang for a better environment and to save the earth.
郑雨周，1958年生于马来西亚吉打州；七岁移居钟灵毓秀，人杰地灵的槟岛(槟榔屿)；中学毕业于名校钟灵中学，后负笈台湾基隆市海洋大学，主修航运管理。对大自然特别酷爱，鼓励绿化乔治市，推动环境保护运动，推广骑脚车以减少碳化排放，减低温室效应；保护地球。
